Welcome to Indian On The Cliff

General Info

Tucked along Brook Street in the seaside town of Cromer, Indian On The Cliff at 2 Brook St, Cromer NR27 9EY, United Kingdom offers a relaxed spot where locals and visitors gather for comforting Indian cuisine. The location feels welcoming from the moment you arrive, and the atmosphere inside reflects the kind of place where people linger over good food and conversation. From the first glance at the menu, it’s clear that this Indian restaurant focuses on familiar flavours served with warmth and care.

One of the highlights that immediately stood out during my visit was the Pakora. Light, crisp, and packed with flavour, it’s the sort of starter that sets the tone for the rest of the meal. The texture is perfectly balanced-golden on the outside and soft inside-and it pairs well with the sauces provided at the table. Many diners around me seemed to order it as well, which speaks volumes when you glance around the dining room and notice the same dish appearing on multiple tables. It’s easy to see why reviews often mention it as a favourite.

Beyond the food, the dining experience at Indian On The Cliff feels thoughtful and accommodating. The restaurant provides table service, which adds to the relaxed pace of the evening. Staff members move comfortably through the room, checking in without being intrusive. It creates a smooth flow to the meal, allowing guests to focus on enjoying the dishes and the company around them.

The setting also makes it a surprisingly romantic choice for dinner. Whether it’s a quiet evening out or a special occasion, the atmosphere feels intimate enough for couples while still lively enough for small groups. The combination of warm lighting, attentive service, and a menu full of comforting Indian classics creates a dining experience that feels both casual and memorable.

Practical details are handled well too. The restaurant offers a wheelchair accessible parking lot, making it easier for guests with mobility needs to visit comfortably. For those bringing along a furry companion during a stroll through Cromer, dogs are allowed outside, which is a nice touch for a seaside town where many people travel with pets.

Paying the bill is simple and modern thanks to NFC mobile payments, which makes settling up quick and convenient at the end of the evening. Small details like this show that the restaurant blends traditional hospitality with modern convenience.

Indian On The Cliff stands out as a welcoming Indian restaurant where the menu delivers reliable favourites, the Pakora leaves a lasting impression, and the overall experience-from service to location-feels easy and enjoyable. It’s the kind of place where one visit often leads to another, especially after hearing positive reviews from fellow diners who have discovered it along Cromer’s charming streets.

What customers say?

“ A wonderful dinner from Jeet and his staff. The food was lovely, I recommend the Pakora sauce (came with the vegetable pakoras). The mains were great, and the staff were friendly and attentive. When Jeet came out to speak to us and I said I liked the sauce, he even offered to get me some to take home. The only reason I didn't was because it wouldn't survive the journey home as we are in Cromer on holiday. Great for a restaurant to be dog friendly too. I would highly recommend! ”

“ We are a children's charity that camps in the Cromer area. We had food cooked for our 25 children & staff group which we collected - absolutely amazing. Great food, the kids and staff loved it, but best of all was the service. Himmat and his team went out of their way to cook us some great food with a lot of love of care! Cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant, not only do they cook great food, but also care for the local community and are more than happy to help. Amazing place, would highly recommend! Once again, thank you so much for all of the kids and staff at CHAOS children's charity. ”

“ We were staying very locally to the restaurant with our dog & 3 month old baby and for ease ordered a takeaway meal. Along with being ready within the hour and cooked to a preferred spice, it was absolutely delicious. Will be having more meals when we return on future trips, delightful! ”

“ I have been going every year for 12 years since they opened. The food is home cooked and original. It is not as greasy and fat laden as many standard Indians. Although the menu is restricted, the quality and service make up for this. Now run by the younger brother of the original culinary expert, he has obviously learned well. I gather he likes experimenting. My lamb was tender ++ and nothing like the tough mutton one often gets elsewhere. The place was very quiet when we went midweek, possibly because of some unfavourable reviews. My wife and I disagree. It was near excellent as can be. ”

“ Excellent Indian restaurant with lovely staff. We had an amazing dinner with starters (pakoras and chilli planner) and then a main each (lamb vindaloo and chicken tikka) with pilau rice and a paratha. Excellent drink options too and desserts, though we were quite full and gave them a miss this time. Thoroughly recommend. ”

“ One of the best Indian meals i have had in a long time, everything we had from start to finish was expertly cooked and wonderfully presented, even though we had our small dog with us we were made to feel welcome. Highly recommend. Well worth a visit. ”

“ Very impressed with this restaurant in Cromer. Tasted like authentic home-cooked Punjabi food. The flavours were delicious and amazingly did not feel "heavy". We asked for everything to be mild as we were dining with our small children - and our wishes were followed without any compromises to flavour. This is a one of a kind place and the service was very good too. Thank you! ”
